50th Birthday Celebration

This is the view from the patio of the cabin we stayed in. I should have taken more pictures of it, but I didn't. It was breath-taking!

Thursday after work we headed up to Lake Burton to spend the weekend with Josh's family. His Mom turns 50 on Saturday and this was a birthday celebration weekend for her. We got in the hot tub on Thursday night, which was wonderful! Friday we went to the driving range in the morning and hit some balls, then came back for lunch and headed for a nice hike down into the gorge. You go down 1099 stairs, and then you can go a few miles further but it is strenuous and you have to have a pass from the ranger. Melanie, Tom, Chrissi and I decided to go for it and it was probably my favorite part of the trip. We had to cross a creek and rock hop for a mile and a half. At the end was a homemade rock slide, so Chrissi and I braved the cold and went down it a couple of times. Then we hiked back, and had to go up all those steps but we made it! We had a yummy dinner that night and played games. Trivial Pursuit which I was GREAT at, well great for me as in I actually got 2 questions right that no one else knew. I was pumped! Saturday we went for another short hike to a different place that we thought we'd never find. Then we came back and went to a wine tasting at the Tiger Mountain Winery. It was neat. We had another great dinner that night, and played some cornhole. Tonya and I were beating everyone, even our husbands! Sunday we got up and checked out, then went to the Dillard House for brunch. They bring out SO much food, and we were all stuffed after leaving. I got home just in time to get to my tennis match. We took all 5 lines, which we were so excited about b/c this team was a bunch of jerks!
We leave Friday morning for Chicago for Josh's marathon! We can't wait!!!
