So I've been a temporary receptionist for my friend Lauryn the last couple of weeks. She is the office administrator for a law firm downtown. It's been fun to dress up and drive down town. I told her I feel like I'm in "Sex in the City" dressing up, being downtown, and walking to get starbucks in the morning. Today is my last day because their new receptionsist is starting tomorrow. Yesterday I was having trouble with my word documents, it would not let me save the last will and testament I was typing up, so I had to call the help desk in LA. We stayed on the phone for 27 mins, but got the problem fixed. I didn't think another thing about it, until Lauryn called me to her office to read the following email.
We thought it was hilarous, because it was SOOOO over the top. Who knew in such a short amount of time on the phone I made this big of an impression....
Steven wrote: This morning was, indeed, refreshing. I had the pleasure of assisting a temporary employee in our Atlanta office. She had an assignment from someone with the name Becky Bush. She phoned the LA HELP DESK for help in saving her Word document. Her "normal.dot" file was corrupted and was not allowing her to save. I was unable to VNC her computer - she was on a laptop. She became the IT person through following my instructions. She not only replaced the normal.dot file but setup her workstation to echo documents using Netdocs. I asked her if she knew how to save in netdocs - she said "yes" - "save, close and check it in." She also imported a document from her PC into NetDocs for Becky. I never had to repeat myself to her - she was a good listener and followed all my instructions with precision. I forgot to ask her name, but I think she is working on the receptionist desk. If you are looking for talent - its setting right in front of you. I could train her to be the IT person in Atlanta without a problem - she is in one word "brilliant."
Lauryn wrote: Thanks Steven - this is the kind of news you like to hear! Everyone in Atlanta enjoys working with Summer too. Unfortunately, Summer is beginning nursing school at the end of the month and cannot continue working here. However, she is an LBBS employee, so we hope to have her back for part time jobs here and there.
Steven wrote: Well, she is going to be a great nurse - of course, I would like to see her become a doctor the talent is there - but that's me. Give her my best wishes. Thanks.

Not the least bit surprised. My favorite granddaughter is the IT in all situations. LOVE YOU Summer. Hurry down!!!
I am not the least bit surprised either and yes I think you would make a good doctor as well. Luke will need someone to releave him from time to time. And oh by the way - you have it in writing from Ma that you are her FAVORITE!!!!!! That could cost her alot of money to get out of that one!!!! I am so proud!! I just got off the phone with IT for Linksys and I had to ask him to repeat everything he said at least once-and I even pressed "1" for English?? Go figure.
dang it! I thought this post was about something else.
We are looking forward to seeing you too!
like i've been saying, you are one of the smartest people I know! It was only a matter of time before someone pointed out the obvious!
