Relaxing in Bradford

Fried Pie, Fried Pies and more Fried Pies. We made 3 batches of fried pies while at Meme and Papa's. Leslie had never had them before so Meme helped us and we made a lot. We even tried a couple of new flavors, cinnamon/sugar and peanut butter/chocolate along with the traditional chocolate and apple. Delish!

Yum apple fried pies
Maddux joined us on the road trip and he loved laying on all the air vents at Meme and Papa's
Happy Birthday Meme! She looks good for 83 :-) I didn't get any pictures of Papa while I was there :-(
She wanted red velvet cake so we made her one....from a box :-)
We also went to see her older sister Margaret. She turned 90 the week we were there. She didn't know who we were. I think Papa not being with us and Leslie and I being there threw her off.
Sisters
Their neighbors dog had lab mix puppies that were SOOOOO cute. We went to visit them at least 2 times a day. There were 8 black and 1 chocolate. All the close up pictures of the chocolate are on my phone and I don't know how to get them off.
So sweet! Believe me, if they had been old enough I would have been taking that chocolate one home.

Leslie, Maddux and I took a road trip up to see Meme and Papa the second week of August. We got up there around lunch on Sunday and Meme had some home grown veggie meal waiting for us. We went to church with Papa that night. Monday was Meme's birthday and Papa had to go to the VA Hospital in Memphis. So Leslie and I took Meme out to lunch for her birthday at The Hearth in Martin, TN. We saw the place that Mom and Daddy got married, then stopped by and saw Aunt Margaret. Tuesday we had some drama because their deep freezer stopped working and it was PACKED full of food. We had to throw away all the meat and some of the veggies, but we were able to save a lot of the veggies/fruit thanks to Marie, their next door neighbor. I also mowed Uncle Billy Bob's yard (which was huge), he had a super nice john deere tractor. I hadn't mowed in forever and it was nice and relaxing! It was so good to get to see them, it doesn't happen often enough! Love you Meme and Papa!!!

Loved hearing about your trip to Meme's and Papa's. I know they enjoyed you being there. She looks so good. I can almost taste those fried pies. Now that you know how to make them, we'll make some next time you come. You are so thoughtful and I LOVE YOU.

Why don't you go back and get the chocolate lab? That would be perfect. You can't beat a lab.

This post makes me teary eyed. You are so blessed to have a relationship like this with your grandparents! ....and why didn't you bring me one of those labs home? Brad wouldn't have been able to say no to you - hes scared. ;)
