Walking to the start

Me, the Frog, Caro and Mike the Bike

Pre Race, Look how clean we were Right after crawling out of the mud pit

So Caroline & I decided to do this race that Buff had mentioned to me while we were at the beach. I got on their website and it looked like fun so we signed up. It is not your typical race, it's an adventure race and you do it with a friend. It was at the horse park right by my parent's house. It was a six mile course, and you and your buddy switch between mountain biking and running. At each place you switch there is an obstacle that you have to complete before taking off doing the opposite of what you came in on. We had to walk over a balance beam, crawl over and under these bars without touching the ground, climb a rock wall, scale a rope ladder and slide down a huge slide. The final obstacle that gets you to the finish is a huge mud pit that you have to army crawl through. Can I just tell you this was the most fun race I have ever done. There was also a costume contest before the race started and we got 2nd place!! Oh, did I mention that it was raining this morning and pretty much all during the race which made it even better. If you want to have some fun and get dirty you should partner up and do it next year. It was FABULOUS!! Oh, and did I mention Caroline is awesome to run a race with, she made me a pre-race goody bag and we had craft-time for our costumes. Our team name was MAU KALI, which means Perpetually Muddy in Hawaian. Mom, made us a fabulous lunch of these delicious sandwichs, fresh fruit and homemade ice cream. Mom and Ryan were our official photographers (I haven't seen Ryan's yet but hopefully he got some good ones). They also had a mini muddy buddy for kids, which was the cutest thing ever. The boys would have LOVED it! Sorry the pictures are our of order!

That looks too fun! I am not sure I would be a great partner this year...I would never cross the start line. The picture were great.

Woo hoo! We DO rock! =) Had so much fun... the only pain leftover are my stupid elbows from the stupid rocks in the mudpit. Next year, we'll have even MORE fun (if possible!) if everybody joins us next go 'round. So glad your fam was there to cheer us on--it was the best!
