Mom & Sara praying and gripping the seats when we took offLast Thursday, I left work at 1:30 to meet Sara at the girls house for a big surprise. Mom met us there too, and we surprised, Sara with a bag full of goodies and the itinerary for the weekend. We got to the airport around 4:00 and got to our gate rather quickly. We grabbed some dinner at TGI Friday's before getting on the plane. Mom & I planned a lot of stuff for the weekend. So we got up every morning pretty early and stayed out late. By Sunday, we were all exhausted but enjoyed the trip so much. Instead of doing a play by play, I'm going to give you a top 10 of my favorite things we did.
10. Got on TV, for a split second on the Today Show
9. Mom's impeccable organizational skills. She had everything mapped out and all the numbers/names of places where we could get to them easily. She also carried around this HUGE black bag that weighed at least 25 times the whole trip.
8. Mom asking our clearly Asian, shuttle driver if he was from here originally. Nope from China....It was hilarous. Another funny moment is when Mom asked one of the subway workers if the express train goes faster. And the lady looked at her like she was an idiot and said, "Yes, that's what express means."
7. Walking around, and experiencing the busy/craziness of the city. There are SO many people there, it is amazing. The taxi rides were also an experience...that I thought we might die or kill someone.
6. The Statue of Liberty was also a really cool experience. The lines were awful, but it was really need to ride the ferry over and see up close what you always see in movies and on tv.
5. Ice skating in Central Park. This was just a surreal experience. Mom and I actually were able to ice skate around without holding onto the wall :-) Sara was doing circles around us.
4. The Little Mermaid show. It was really neat. The costumes and props were amazing and I loved all the songs from that movie. It was also snowing when we left the theatre!!
3. Our hotel, we stayed at the Doubletree right off Times Square at 47th/7th. It was so convienent to everything. Definitely a must stay, when we go again.
2. Buddakan. We had dinner here on Saturday night and it was FANTASTIC! The waiter was great, very attentive and knowledgable and the food was very, very good!
1. The Rockettes were absolutely fabulous! If you are ever in NY during the christmas season you MUST see them. They even kept the Christ in christmas which was so nice to see. Mom cried several times during the show :-)
Thanks Mom & Daddy for letting us take this trip. I am so lucky to have such wonderful parents! It is a trip I will never forget. And I'm already planning our next one for Mom's 60th birthday!
